Credit Analyst (Debt Advisory)

Position Overview:

The Credit Analyst supports the delivery of debt advisory and capital solutions for Dawson Group clients. Reporting to the Director, the Credit Analyst works closely with the Advisory team to deliver financial analysis, risk assessments, and capital transaction support for clients—particularly in the agriculture and regional business sectors.

This role requires strong analytical skills, an understanding of lending and credit assessment, and a passion for supporting clients with practical, commercial advice. The Credit Analyst will assist in preparing reports, financial analysis, and presentation material to support debt structuring and funding proposals.

Primary Objectives and Outcomes:

  • Credit & Financial Analysis: Deliver accurate, insightful analysis to support advisory recommendations and funding proposals.
  • Client Engagement: Contribute to clear, professional communication with clients and stakeholders to help inform decisions.
  • Market Awareness: Maintain a strong understanding of economic, banking, and agricultural market conditions to support client solutions.
  • Work Quality: Deliver timely, high-quality reports and outputs that support excellent customer service and decision-making.

Key Responsibilities:

Financial & Credit Analysis
• Prepare detailed financial and credit assessments, including cash flow forecasting, serviceability analysis, and gearing reviews.
• Assist in developing credit memoranda and funding proposals for presentation to banks and other lenders.
• Use financial software tools such as Excel and Figured to support analysis for funding proposals.

Transaction Support
• Support the structuring and execution of debt and capital transactions, including due diligence, document preparation, and communication with funding partners.
• Contribute to the development of strategic funding plans and presentation materials.

Client Relationship Support
• Attend client meetings with the Director or Advisor and prepare briefing materials and follow-up documentation.
• Assist in developing client-ready reports and analysis that are tailored to their specific goals and business circumstances.

Industry & Market Research
• Conduct research into economic trends, industry data, and sector insights, particularly in the agricultural and regional business sectors.
• Identify risks and opportunities in client operations and broader market environments.

Internal Collaboration
• Work closely with the Advisory and Accounting teams to share insights and ensure coordinated client service.
• Participate in cross-functional initiatives and projects that help deliver better outcomes for Dawson Group clients.

Compliance & Professional Standards
• Maintain accurate client files and records and ensure all advisory activities are compliant with internal and external standards.
• Act with professionalism and integrity at all times, in line with Dawson Group’s values.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Experience working with a major bank or financial institution, ideally with exposure to commercial or agribusiness lending.
  • Strong technical foundation in credit risk, financial statement analysis, and lending structures.
  • Tertiary qualifications in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Agribusiness or a related field.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prepare reports and client documents to a high standard.
  • Interest in regional Australia and a connection to agriculture or rural communities will be highly regarded.
  • Experience with financial tools and systems such as Excel, Figured, and Xero is desirable.

Benefits and Allowances:

  • Employment Type: Full-Time (flexible hours available upon negotiation)
  • Core Hours: 8:45 am to 5:15 pm, Monday to Friday

Accountant (Full-time)

Dawson Group is a leading Chartered Accounting and financial advisory firm established in Cootamundra for over 100 years, Goulburn over 10 years and recently expanded to Narooma and Yass.

We are presently seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Accountant located in our Cootamundra, Goulburn, Yass or Narooma office.

To be successful in this role we are seeking someone who:

  • Has completed or nearing completion of a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance, with a minimum of 2 years’ experience in an accounting firm;
  • Is studying or planning to start the CA program;
  • Has proficiency with XERO bookkeeping software or other;
  • Experience with APS and XPA would be advantageous;
  • Has good problem-solving skills and attention to detail;
  • Proven time management skills;
  • Is well presented and has excellent communication (verbal & written) and interpersonal skills;
  • Excellent customer service skills;
  • Demonstrated experience working in a team environment.

Duties and responsibilities required for this position include but not limited to:

  • Training in and working with computer-based accounting systems (Xero, MYOB, APS and XPA etc.);
  • Perform and/or manage the provision of bookkeeping and software support services to clients;
  • Preparing financial reports, income tax returns, business activity statements and other tax reports for all types of entities;
  • Maintaining client relationships through the provision of excellent confidential client service;
  • Liaise with various Government agencies on behalf of clients;
  • Participate in training with updated tax and other relevant legislation.

Dawson Group is a leading chartered accounting and financial advisory firm located in Cootamundra and Goulburn.

We are presently seeking an intelligent and motivated person with strong interpersonal skills to join our Financial Services team, either in our Cootamundra or Goulburn office.

This position would be ideal for a capable, high calibre person with a business or commerce degree, who will undertake further studies in order to become a professional (CFP Level) financial planner.

Initially, the successful candidate will be given paraplanning duties, and will report directly to the Director of Superannuation and Financial Services. He or she will also receive comprehensive on-the-job training in managing a portfolio of advice clients. Accordingly, prior experience in bookkeeping, accounting, or the financial services industry would certainly be an advantage. Conditions of employment are very attractive, including practical and financial support in your continuing academic studies.
