Matthew McNamara
B.Fin.Admin., FCA Managing Director
Matthew McNamara joined the firm from Price Waterhouse and has been a partner/director of Dawson Group since 1990. He completed his education in Armidale, NSW.
As Managing Director, Matthew is charged with the responsibility of ensuring the firm continues to meet and exceed the expectations of its clients.
In addition to this role, Matthew manages an extensive portfolio of clients across the agricultural and small business sectors. His high level of technical expertise and well-respected empathy with the challenges faced by his clients sees him regularly sought out as a professional adviser.
Like all the directors of the firm, Matthew maintains both rural and city-based clients and brings to them the unique perspectives and best practice gleaned from this experience. Matthew’s deep involvement in the practical aspects of his clients’ affairs has led to a particular interest in estate and succession planning and growing the overall wealth of his clients.
Matthew is a licensed financial planner, and a fellow of Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand.
Matthew manages the firm’s Goulburn office, where he resides.
Tim Meares
B.Bus., CA, SAA, AICD
Tim joined the firm’s Cootamundra office from KPMG in 1996 and has been a partner since 1998.
He combines a wealth of experience in rural accounting with an understanding of the issues facing country and city-based clients. Tim creates solutions for his clients that deliver increased business efficiency and cater to relevant personal and family needs.
Tim’s particular interest in agriculture has led to his role in the firm as a farming and agriculture specialist. In addition to his industry expertise, Tim has developed a high level of skill and experience in taxation, superannuation and accounting technology.
Tim is the director responsible for outsourcing services. He is a licensed financial planner, a member of Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand and a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
Greg Southwell
B.Bus., CA, SAA, CFP®
Greg originally joined Dawson Group in the former Sydney office in 1995 and has been based in the Cootamundra practice since 1998.
He provides technical leadership and strategy within the firm, and is at the forefront in the areas of superannuation and investments.
Greg has developed his specialisation in superannuation and investment issues by pursuing a number of additional certifications, including:
- Certified Financial Planner®
- SMSF Specialist Advisor™
- CA – Financial Planning Specialist, and
- CA – SMSF Specialist
All Dawson Group’ clients benefit greatly from Greg’s capacity to marry technical expertise with pragmatic solutions to their superannuation, business, taxation, investment and retirement planning challenges.
Greg is the director responsible for Financial Advisory Services and Superannuation Planning and is a licensed financial planner. Please contact Greg to set up an appointment for a discussion on either or both of these areas.
Andrew Loveridge
B.Bus, CPA, F. FIN
Andrew joined Dawson Group in 2024 as Director/Partner and is based in our Goulburn office.
He made the switch to the accounting profession following an extensive banking career with NAB, Australia’s largest business bank, where he spent the past 20 years as a senior executive leading industry focused banking teams.
Andrew brings with him a history of building high-performing teams that deliver positive customer outcomes. He holds deep industry expertise in sectors such as Health, Professional Services, Government, Education and Telco. Media and Internet.
Andrew is a Bachelor of Business majoring in Finance & Economics from UTS, is a Fellow of the Financial Services Institute of Australia and a qualified CPA.
Consultants
John Mendl
B.Comm., FCA
John completed his tertiary education in Newcastle and moved to Crookwell in 1974. He established an accountancy practice in 1980 and practiced for many years in Crookwell and Goulburn, before eventually selling. The practice had predominately rural clients but also many city-based clients, in numerous industries. He has presented various technical papers at client seminars and regional conferences.
Together with his wife, John developed a small cattle enterprise on their 200 acre property at Crookwell. He and his family have been visiting friends in the Cootamundra District for many years and know the area well.
John adds to Dawson and Partners experience in the areas of business development and succession planning.
John is currently based in the Goulburn office.
